Which would you pay more for: a pair of bejeweled earrings or a chest X-ray? Depends on the chest.
This Sunday, someone forked over $45,000 at the Hollywood Legends auction at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The purchase? A set of X-rays of Marilyn Monroe's chest, from a hospital visit in 1954. The company auctioning the X-rays only expected to get $3,000 for them.
Everything Monroe touched seems to be in high demand. Even a chair she once used went for $35,000 in the same auction. But a pair of earrings Kate Winslet wore in Titanic--something that, on its own, is worth money--only went for $25,000.
