New Pee-Wee Movie: Don’t Crystal Skull This, Apatow

By Sarah Walker

Judd Apatow is developing a new Pee-wee movie with Paul Ruebens (obvi).

Reports Variety:

“Let’s face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman,” Apatow told Daily Variety. “I am so excited to be working with Paul Reubens — who is an extraordinary and ground-breaking actor and writer. It’s so great to watch him return with such relevance.”

I will face it. We do need more Pee-wee. I completely agree. But so help me God, if you screw up one of my favorite childhood franchises, Apatow, I will find you. Let’s say you’re at a bar. I’ll walk in and sit down next to you. You’ll probably be talking to Seth Rogen. I’ll sit next to Rogen. And then I’ll have a drink, probably a whiskey ginger, and pretend not to know you and say nothing. BUT TRUST THAT ON THE INSIDE I WILL BE RAGING. Paul, you’re discounted if this goes all Crystal Skull. I mean, I’m sure it’ll be great. But, let’s put it this way, I want no scenes between Pee-wee and Francis talking about how gay the other is. Also, if there’s a Francis, he can’t be played by Rogen. Sorry. It’s Mark Holton or no one.
